The basic steps in preparing a DCP package are:
- Convert project to exactly 24.000fps, both visuals and sound (48.000 fps for 3D)
- Fit into DCI-compliant aspect ratio – Full, Flat or Scope
- Standardize audio into compliant channel outlays
- Create DCP from 24.000fps master (48.000fps for 3D)
- Copy master onto DCI-Compliant drive media
- Test
All of these steps must be done but if you are sure your master project files are already DCI compliant, those steps will not need to be re-done, so that can save some time and reduce the price. Below is an itemized list of pricing so you can calculate the cost. For 3D DCP’s, it will add about 50% to the conversion and DCP creation steps. Contact me for an exact quote for 3D due to the many variables with 3D.
